14th October 2020
The BSGM annual meeting will be held jointly with the ACGS on Tuesday January 19th - Wednesday January 20th, 2021, as a celebration of UK Clinical Genomics.
The event will be held virtually and “live from your living room” via Zoom. Registration for the meeting will be free for BSGM members. Please log into your mySociety member account then click 'events and conferences' at the top of the screen and follow the instructions to submit an abstract.
Non-members are welcome to create an account in mySociety, submit an abstract now via 'events and conferences' at the top of the screen and then register for the event for a nominal fee once the abstract deadline has passed.
Confirmed speakers include Chris Wigley, and Professor Mary-Claire King will be giving “The Fisher Memorial Lecture”.
We would like to invite you to submit an abstract. These sessions will be broadly divided into Service and Research. To ensure we can include as many high-quality presentations as possible, in addition to the 15 minute standard presentations, we will also be offering 5 minute lightning presentations consisting of 3 slides. These lightning presentations are ideally suited where there are results of high quality but of insufficient quantity for a 15-minute presentation. Please do consider this if you have some great results that are not quite there yet for a full presentation. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate poster presentations. We are particularly interested to receive abstracts from young investigators, STPs in genomic science, bioinformatics and cancer genomics, genetic counsellor and clinical genetics trainees. The BSGM will award prizes for outstanding abstracts from trainees and young investigators. All trainees and young investigators who have applied during the abstract submission are nominees for the awards. Each nominee must be first author (i.e. presenting author) of the submitted abstract and should not be more than four years post-doctoral.
Abstract submission will open on Tuesday 13th October 2020 and close on Sunday 8th November at 17.00hrs. Abstract submissions are via the mySociety event page. Please download an abstract submission form, and then use the "submit an abstract" button to directly upload this completed document. Further guidance notes on submitting an abstract are available at the bottom of the events page.
• The word count limit for abstracts is 250 words - any submissions over this will not be accepted.
• Only abstracts submitted through the portal will be considered.
We very much look forward to receiving and reading your abstracts.
Emma Baple, Chair of the BSGM Scientific Programme Committee
Helen Lord, Conference Organiser, ACGS on behalf of the SPC of the BSGM and ACGS.
