The annual meeting of the BSGM is on Thursday 10th October 2019 at The Royal College of Physicians, London. Confirmed speakers include Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed and Professor Gareth Evans will the giving The BSGM Lecture. Topics covered will include ‘missing heritability’, the Transforming Genetic Medicine Initiative, pharmacogenomics, paediatric cancers and single cell transcriptomics.

Abstract submission will close on Monday 1st July at 0900h.

Abstracts should be submitted on-line through mySociety. The main body of the text of the abstract must be no longer than 200 words (excluding title, author names, affiliations). Abstracts longer than 200 words will not be considered. A full author list with affiliations must be provided. Only abstracts submitted through the portal will be considered. If you do not have a login, please contact membership@bsgm.org.uk. Notification of acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be via email to the address of the submitting author by the end of July 2019.

Please come and join us and submit an abstract. There will be two parallel 90 minute sessions divided broadly by the SPC into service and research. Given the time constraints we have had to only accept a small proportion of the high quality abstracts we receive. So, this year, dependent on the quality and numbers of abstracts received we hope to include, in addition to 15 minute ‘standard’ presentations, some 5 minute ‘lightning presentations’ consisting of 3 slides that the speaker presents. These are ideally suited where there are results of high quality but of insufficient quantity for a 15 minute presentation. Please do consider this if you have some great results that are not quite there yet for a full presentation. Unfortunately we are not in a position to accommodate paper poster presentations.

We are particularly interested to receive abstracts on cancer genetics / genomics and experiences regarding prenatal diagnosis for rare conditions where a VUS has been identified. Submission on these topics is not a guarantee of acceptance.

We very much look forward to receiving and reading your abstracts.

Thank you

Emma Woodward, Chair of Scientific Programme Committee

Fiona Togneri, Conference Organiser
