The Wessex Regional Genetics Laboratory, based at the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, is at the forefront of NHS Genomic Medicine, providing state-of-the-art diagnostic testing services to make diagnoses for the benefit of families with rare diseases and cancer across the UK and beyond.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time, permanent Clinical Scientist to join our Oncology team.
We are an accredited laboratory providing a comprehensive integrated cytogenetic and molecular genetics diagnostic service for a local population of approximately 3 million and, in addition, provide specialised services to patients throughout the UK and internationally. The laboratory has a close association with the Wessex Clinical Genetics Service, the University of Southampton and hosts high profile basic academic research. Our Oncology team provides a wide range of genetic services for patients with haematological cancers with a specialist interest in myeloproliferative neoplasms, multiple myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and works in close collaboration with clinical and academic leaders in this field, including Prof Nick Cross who is Director of the laboratory.
We invite applications from candidates who have (or are close to achieving) HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist with significant experience in oncology genetics (preferably haemato-oncology) or candidates from a research background in oncology genetics who are committed to developing a career as a Clinical Scientist. Appointment to AFC band 7 or 6 would be dependent on qualifications, experience and HCPC registration.
